 Diagram of Folkstyle Wrestling Rules

The question of the game of wrestling is to put your rival on his back - to stick your adversary.

A stick (or fall) is the point at which you put your rival on his/her back with any piece of the two shoulders or both shoulder bones of your rival in contact with the tangle for two seconds. When you stick your adversary, the match is finished and you are the victor.

In the event that no one gets stuck, the victor is the wrestler who has scored the most focuses amid the match..

There are five different ways to score focuses in a wrestling match:

1) Takedown - (2 focuses) You score two focuses for bringing your rival down to the tangle and controlling him/her.

2) Escape - (1 point) You score one point for escaping or getting to an unbiased position when your rival has you down on the tangle.

3) Reversal - (2 focuses) You score two focuses when your rival has you down on the tangle and you originate from underneath and pick up control of your rival.

4) Near Fall (Back Points) - (2 or 3 focuses) You get close fall focuses when you yet not exactly get your rival stuck. A close fall (close stick) is when...

In the event that a close fall goes on for two seconds, you get 2 focuses. In the event that a close fall goes on for 5 seconds, you get 3 focuses.

5) Penalty Points - (1 or 2 focuses) Your adversary is granted focuses in the event that you submit the accompanying infractions. (NFHS punishment outline AT THIS LINK)

The first and second time you are punished, your rival is granted one point. The third time you are punished, your rival is granted two focuses. The fourth time you are punished, you are excluded. (Aside from illicit beginning position or false begin - you are advised twice, at that point one point granted for every infraction, except you won't be precluded. In case of Flagrant Misconduct, you are launched out from the match on the main offense, you lose the match, and 3 group focuses are deducted).

the two shoulders are held for two seconds inside four crawls of the tangle, or...

one shoulder contacts the tangle and the other shoulder is at a 45 degree point coming down to the tangle, or...

the wrestler is held in a high extension or back on the two elbows.

Illicit Holds - There are a few holds that the ref will punish you for all of a sudden. (There are different holds called "conceivably perilous holds" which the official may influence you to relinquish however won't punish you for).

Going off the tangle or driving your adversary off the tangle to abstain from wrestling ("escaping the tangle.")

Getting dress, the tangle, or the headgear

Leaving the tangle amid the match without the ref's consent

Answering to the tangle not appropriately prepared or not prepared to wrestle, or gear that is identified as being illicit after the match has begun

Pointless unpleasantness

Unsportsmanlike direct

Egregious Misconduct (launch, the match is finished)

These tenets apply to the kind of wrestling done in the United States in College, High School, Junior High, Middle School, and most youth wrestling. This kind of wrestling is frequently alluded to as "folkstyle" wrestling. The guidelines for "free-form" and "greco-roman" wrestling, as is done in the olympics and universally, are somewhat unique.
